Thanksgiving

This card was issued on 20 September 1938 to commemorate the 1938 Thanksgiving celebration. The event was scheduled for 2 October, but was cancelled because the transportation funds were used instead to move the Wehrmacht to the Czechoslovakian border region.

The left side of the card depicts a woman wearing the traditional costume of the Schaumburg region.

The stamp is of a similar design as the 1938 Nürnberg Party Rally issues (MiNr. 672 and P272), with the text changed from “Reichsparteitag” to “Erntedanktag”.
