During the Third Reich period, Germany released stamp booklets for two categories of stamps — definitives and charity issues.
The definitives, particularly the Hindenburg Medallion issues, are found in numerous major varieties due to the duration of use. Within the major variations of both the definitives and charity issues, dozens of minor varieties exist due to the nature of the printing process (plate numbers, perforation holes, etc.).
The booklets (Markenheftchen, or MH) contain individual panes (Heftchenblätter, or H-Bl.). The panes were printed in sheets (Markenheftchenbogen, or MHB), which were then cut into panes. The MHB were also available for purchase as uncut sheets.
