Eagle with Small Breast Shield
On 1 January 1872, Germany issued its first set of postage stamps. The stamps feature an embossed image of the German Reichsadler, or Imperial Eagle, with a small shield in the center. They are denominated in Groschen (MiNr. 1-6) and Kreuzer (MiNr. 7-11).
