Prior to the issuance of the 1901 Yacht Issues, proof printings of the 2- & 3 Rupien values were printed in trial colors that vary from the colors of the eventual issues. Six varieties are known. Five of the six also vary from the issued stamps in perforation, bearing a line perforation 11 ½ instead of the issued comb perforation 14 ½. Additionally, the line perforated proofs are without gum, while the proof with comb perforation is with gum.
