This stamp was is
sued on 28 May 1943 to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the death of Reinhard Heydrich, Deputy Protector of Bohemia and Moravia.
Heydrich was attacked in Prague on 27 May 1942 by agents of the Czechoslovakian government in exile. He died of his wounds on 4 June 1942. The stamp depicts his death mask.
In addition to the normal printings of this stamp, 1,000 special edition sheetlets were printed and distributed to high-ranking officials and attendees of the ceremony commemorating Heydrich. The sheetlets bear individual identification numbers at bottom left.
