MSP No. 67 – Darmstadt
The steamer Darmstadt was built by Fairfield Shipbuilding & Eng. Co. Ltd., in Glasgow, and delivered to Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) in November 1890. Darmstadt served primarily on NDL’s East Asian route.
From 1897-1904, Darmstadt was chartered by the German government on 6 occasions to transport troops to and from China. She carried MSP cancellers on all six voyages – MSP 24 (1897-1898, 1899), MSP 27 (1897), MSP 49 (1902-1903), MSP 67 (1900), and MSP 71 (1904).
On 7 March 1911, Darmstadt was sold to Turkey. At the outbreak of WWI, she was seized in Bombay. She returned to Turkey in 1919 and was scrapped in 1923.
