1940 / 1941 Hindenburg Medallions

The December 1933 Hindenburg Medallion issues were available in a series of booklets, or Markenheftchen (MH), from 1934 to 1941 (MH 35 through MH 39).

The last of these booklets was produced in 1940-1941. It contains the following panes, or Heftchenblättern (H-Bl.), in order:

  • One H-Bl. 98 consisting of MiNr. 512 (x4), MiNr. 514 (x3), and text field (x1)
  • One H-Bl. 94 consisting of MiNr. 513 (x6), MiNr. 519 (x1), and text field (x1)
  • One H-Bl. 99 consisting of MiNr. 515 (x2), MiNr. 516 (x5), and text field (x1)
  • One H-Bl. 96 consisting of MiNr. 516 (x7) and text field (x1)
  • One H-Bl. 100 consisting of MiNr. 517 (x3), MiNr. 519 (x4), and text field (x1)
All panes are of the B variety (perforation between rows does not extend through margin). The panes are separated by blank interleaves.

Five major variations of the booklet were printed (MH 39.1 through MH 39.5). They differ slightly in the design of the front and back covers, both interior and exterior. They can be easily distinguished by a number at the bottom right of the front cover:

  • 39.1 (April 1940) — 11
  • 39.2 (July 1940)– 12
  • 39.3 (December 1940) — 13
  • 39.4 (March 1941) — 14
  • 39.5 (April 1941) — 15

The booklet panes can also be found in the uncut booklet pane sheets, or Markenheftchenbogen (MHB).
