Red Cross

On 17 August 1940, the Generalgouvernement issued this set to benefit the Red Cross.

The stamps are of the same basic design as MiNr 43, 45, 48, and 50, but in a black-brownish-olive color with a red surcharge.

The stamps were printed in sheets of 50.

Two different types of sheets exist.  The first issue has the words “GENERALGOUVERNEMENT FÜR DIE BESETSTEN POLNISCHEN GEBIETE” in the upper margin, while the second issue has only “GENERALGOUVERNEMENT” in the same location.
