1898 / 1899 Krone / Adler Overprints

In October 1898, a second printing of German Southwest Africa overprints came into use. The overprint was changed to “Deutsch-Südwestafrika” from the prior overprint “Deutsch-Südwest-Afrika”.

Plate flaws exists on the underlying 3 Pf and 25 Pf stamps.

MiNr. 5 Plate Flaw I — broken scroll (right)

MiNr. 9 Plate Flaw II —break in ‘I’ (right)

MiNr. 9 Plate Flaw IV — dot next to lower left scroll (right)

MiNr. 5 Unlisted Plate Flaw — rounded corner (right)

In addition, an overprint flaw exists on MiNr. 10.
