Königsberg / Möwe Provisionals

Following the sinking of SMS Königsberg and SMS Möwe in the early stages of World War I, the Germans salvaged a small supply of postage from the wrecked ships.  This postage was distributed to 8 post offices in German East Africa (DOA) as a substitute for normal DOA postage, which was in short supply due to the British blockade.

These issues can be distinguished from normal German postage only by the German East African cancels.
