Model Airplane Exposition

On 25 March 1942, the NDH issued this series to commemorate the Model Airplane Exposition for the benefit of Croatian aviation.

The stamps were printed in two types of sheets — one with 24 stamps and a label in position 13.

— and one with 25 stamps and no label in the center.

The stamps at position 12 of both types of sheets have engraver’s marks — numbers in the bottom right corner.  The numbers are the four digits of the year of issue, 1942, though not in the correct order.

MiNr. 70 I – 73 I Engraver’s Marks

Michel also catalogs the stamps with adjoining label, or Zierfeldern.

Imperforate copies also exist.

Proofs were also printed on stiff, chalky-white paper.

Two souvenir sheets were also issued, one perforated and one imperforate.

The component stamps:

The imperforate stamps can also be found with engraver’s marks — the letters “R” (MiNr. 74 I) or “V” (MiNr. 75 I) in the lower right corner.

MiNr. 74 I and 75 I Engraver’s Marks

Sheets with the engraver’s marked stamps are cataloged as separate varieties.

Proofs of the souvenir sheets also exist in varying color combinations.

Finally, uncut multiples of the souvenir sheets exist.
