4th Yugoslavian Overprints

On 10 May 1941, the NDH issued a fourth set of overprints of Yugoslavian stamps (MiNr. 439-440).

The stamps were printed in 5×5 sheets, with 16 stamps and 9 labels per sheet. Due to the use of varying perforations, MiNr. 39 can be found in four varieties, and MiNr. 40 in five.

  • “A” Suffix — K 11 1/2 on all sides
  • “B” Suffix — K 11 1/2 on three sides, L 11 1/2 at right
  • “C” Suffix — K 11 1/2 on three sides, L 9 at right
  • “D” Suffix — K 11 1/2 on three sides, L 9 1/4 at right
  • “E” Suffix — L 11 1/2 on all sides (MiNr. 40 only)
The sheets are cataloged as follows:
  • “A” Suffix — All five columns are perf K 11 1/2 (all stamps are “A” suffix)
  • “B” Suffix — Perf K 11 1/2 except rightmost vertical perf is L 11 1/2 (stamps in columns 1-4 are “A”, stamps in last column are “B”)
  • “C” Suffix — Perf K 11 1/2 except rightmost vertical perf is L 9 (stamps in columns 1-4 are “A”, stamps in last column are “C”)
  • “D” Suffix — Perf K 11 1/2 except rightmost vertical perf is 9 1/4 (stamps in columns 1-4 are “A”, stamps in last column are “D”)
  • “E” Suffix — All five columns are perf L 11 1/2 (all stamps are “E” suffix) (MiNr. 40 only)

In addition MiNr. 39 can be found with an engravers mark, “S” between the bush and window (position 9).
