During and after WWI, German forces captured by the British in German East Africa were transported to prison camps in British territories. Most were sent to Ahmednagar, India.
The most common mail items sent by the German POWs were pre-printed postcards on which the POW would strike-out the inapplicable text. This method made it easy for the censors.
